*The festival information below is from the previous year (2025), and the information for 2026 is currently being updated.* Every year, the Pohang International Fireworks Festival, one of the city’s signature cultural tourism festivals, takes place in Pohang, the “City of Fire and Light.” The festival began in 2004 with a fireworks show held to commemorate Pohang Citizens’ Day, inspired by the themes of “light,” symbolizing Pohang as a world-renowned steel city, and “fire,” symbolizing its blazing furnaces. It has since grown into an international-scale festival, attracting renowned fireworks teams from around the world each year. Moving beyond a simple focus on fireworks, the festival offers a diverse celebration of harmony that brings together industry and culture through original performances, light parades, and more.
